Feeling a little.....

Today, I am yet again feeling under the weather....a sore throat is creeping in and I cant shake it. I hate when I'm getting sickly because it means I have to SIT still and REST! This is hard for me because I am such a busy-body. Hopefully I can shake it because I have a very good friend of mine from college getting married this weekend!!

We will never forget.

1O years ago today, what were you doing? Almost every American can remember. I remember being in my high school in a panic when I saw the first building with a big gaping hole in it from the first plane that hit the World Trade Center.

I, like most people, starting thinking of everyone I knew that I wanted to make sure were OK. At the time, I had no friends or relatives in NY or D.C. area, but my heart hurt for everyone and I was in udder shock. It didn't seem real, and like it was all a joke.

I do remember going to the front desk receptionist and asked to make a phone call. Cell phones were in use by then....but the signal was horrible and I knew a land line at the time would be better.

I got to a phone and the first call I made was to my now husband, at the time he was my boyfriend who had enlisted into the military only one year prior. I for some reason, needed to know that he was OK, even though I knew he was working here in the states. He reassured me that he was, but told me to prepare for what this possibly could be...which he ended up being correct in thinking it was terrorist driven and an attack on our country. I knew right then, America would be going to war if this was the case.

After speaking to him, I called my Mom or she got in touch with me(foggy again to remember how all the communication happened) She was OK, and so was everyone else in my family.....I soon thereafter left for the rest of the day from school. There was no way I could stay and be expected to concentrate nor be expected to do anything but be glued to the TV.

I do want to take this time to thank everyone, including all Fire Fighter personnel, Police Officers, all Military and Civilians that risked their own lives on that day.

I also want to thank the Military for their continued efforts in Iraq, Afghanistan and all the other bases located overseas for all that they do.

I want to also say to my husband that I am very proud of everything you sacrifice for myself and this country to protect our freedom.

Freedom isn't FREE and there are those out there that want to take this away from us. They will not succeed as long as we have Men and Women who serve to protect this. Everyone should thank our Military for everything they do.

In December of 2007, my husband and I had a little weekend trip to NY and made sure to go by the site of where the World Trade Centers once stood. It was a very surreal moment for both us and and knowing that he had served in the war against terror because of this attack was overwhelming to me.
Here are a few pictures from our trip.

I also wanted to talk about the plans for the memorial site. I have seen the fountains in action, via TV and love the ideas that have been incorporated and the continued remembrance of all the lives lost in the 9.11 attack. There are so many details and considerations that have went into this memorial that it makes me so proud to know that we will not forget, and there will be beauty and remembrance out of this tragedy.

Hi there!

Sorry to be M.I.A for a while....Ive been a little busy with getting a vacation in, and doing some work on the side.

I also have some new finds from an AUCTION that I attended with the sis-in-law! We had a blast, so fun!

End Table, with bamboo detailing. I will be painting the inside to give it a POP of color.

Sad chair, but the bones are good..I think it will turn out great! Going to tackle the upholstery solely on my own this time!

I am posting some of the furniture items before they get their paint job and hope to give you a little in-sight on my steps of the painting process.

I also have to let you know what the Wings Backs turned out to look like! I am very pleased with the outcome! They look so new and fresh!

Before...very dingy and needing some TLC.

The After! Painted and Glazed wooden feet, and crisp white leather.
