One thing done..

Over the weekend, I got a little side-tracked! I go into the weekend thinking I'm going to do one thing, and I divert and do another...my poor brain is always on the go!

But I did get one thing completed, and I am still tweaking it a bit. After I did them once, I have come up with so many other ways and materials to use with these. I want to do a bunch for my backyard so me and the hubs can watch the birds come spring fluttering around all of our dogwood trees!

Here's what I did: I created
Bird Tweets!

First you will need the ingredients: grains, mixed seeds, twine or ribbon.

Then you need to decide what you want them to be molded as. I am going to do mini-bundt ones next to look like wreaths, or you can use this one that's similar to a bell but without the flared shape.

Then, all you will need is unflavored gelatin. This comes in 1/4 c. packages, I used Knox brand.

Use the directions from the Knox gelatin to prepare, add birdseed. Mix until all birdseed is well coated. Add the mixture into the molds. I used about 4 cups of birdseed. One cup makes about one mold.
(Oh, and I almost forgot! Use a skewer or Popsicle stick in the center that goes through the entire mixture before placing into refrigerator or freezer, this will allow you to hang in on the ribbon or twine!)

Let them cool in the refrigerator overnight, they will set and become solid. If your in a hurry, you could pop them in the freezer for a faster approach.

After they have cooled, remove from the molds, and string with the ribbon or the twine. I used a corn cob on the bottom to keep them from all sliding off instead of tying a knot.

After the process was done, here's the result!

I love it, but now like I mentioned earlier, I have so may other ideas to do more. I want a whole variety, using more food items! Is it weird to be this excited over making treats for birds? =)
