TO-DO Update!

OK, I guess I am going to suffer the embarrassment of showing you my pantry! Cant believe my before picture actually looks so bad! But the only way to show you why I was so ready to clean it up and was frustrated with it, is to show you the evidence!

Embarrassing!

OK, so a run to Ikea was what it took to get me started with actually enjoying opening the door into the pantry! I absolutely hated looking at all the stuff all disorganized...it gave me anxiety believe it or not! And can you believe that everything that is in the top photo is all arranged in the bottom photo?! I looks like i have tons of room!
So anyway, here it is!

I would still like to fix up the shelving which the hubby has a plan for that, and maybe paint and add lighting, and a few more storage options in the near future, but for now I'm happy with the results!

Copy Cat Update!

OK so if you have seen my post, "Sometimes-its-ok-to-be-copy-cat" then you will recognize the first project on the list has been completed.

I used the idea of the picture shown, an put my own spin on it. I actually went with the idea to make a "His" and "Hers" because I wanted some art for our combined closet. Our closet is shared, so space is limited, hence the reason for their size.

First I took ordinary gallery canvas that can be bought at almost any art store or craft supply, and sketched out with pencil the design for each.

Then I went to work cutting out various portions newspapers that are never read in my house!
(I had to ask my Aunt if she had any laying around because we never do!)

Then after cutting all the components, the assembly began! I used ModPodge and Elmer's.

This was the "His" in construction

Then after doing both the "his" and "hers" using the same method, here was the result!

I still need to glaze the fronts, I want to give them an antique/aged look, and paint the sides black. Other than that they are ready to hang! Keep on the look-out for the other projects I had on the list!

What do you think of the results?

Where doing what? Happy Birthday!!

Haha! They were so shocked, my husband and his brother that is!

To fill you in, me and my Sister-in-law had a great 29th birthday surprise for our husbands, who are identical twins for those of you who aren't aware.
(I feel like you need to know this fact, about being twins because of what I mention below)

Two days before we were to head to the Aquarium(yes the Ga. Aquarium) I got a phone call regarding our trip. It was the event coordinator calling to confirm and to ask a couple of questions.

The questions were as follows:
What is the height, weight, and shoe size of the participant?....if your scratching your head wondering why the Ga. Aquarium would be calling to ask these questions, here's your answer:

We surprised the boys with a Swim with the Gentle Giants!!!!
The aquarium coordinator was calling to get this info from me so that they could outfit the hubbies with proper fitting gear and wetsuits! So then I was in a panic to make sure that each of their gear fit perfectly. I called the sis and she gave me the info, and low and behold they were exactly alike. Who would have known?, lol, I mean the identical thing didn't even cross my mind!

Keith and Kraig in the Tank!

The Swim with the Gentle Giants is an opportunity to get in the tank with all the sea life in the largest Aquarium in the U.S. Wow! It makes my palms sweaty thinking about it, I'm not good with wildlife swimming around me, let alone in a confined space and no escape, ha!

My sis-in-law and I weren't the brave souls they are, so we opted for the "Behind the Scenes" tour. It was great. We enjoyed the entire trip, and then ended the night with food and drinks.

Tank shot again

Behind the Scenes photo of a Whale Shark! There are four in the large tank that Keith and Kraig swam with!

We think we did a good job of planning the surprise, they had no clue(they thought they were going
sky-diving(lol)!!
The shock on their faces proved that me and Mayhayla had done a great job of keeping it a secret, and that they looooovvvveeeddd it!

Happy 29th Birthday!!

Sometimes its OK to be a Copy Cat!

Here lately I have seen so much artwork that I would love to duplicate for certain areas in my home.
Some of them are outrageously overpriced, and then others look like they could be done in no time at all an with everyday items I already have on hand.

Here's one I hope to do for my closet or Master Bathroom.
Completed project see here!

ballarddesigns.com
(I already have a canvas, and all I need is newspapers, and a little time!) OH, but wouldnt it be cute to do a collection of these! See the ideas keep manifesting!
My home has a subtle coastal feel, so I want to do this sketchy oyster for a room in my home, not really sure where exactly though.....hmmmm. Living Room? or Kitchen?

And last but not least, I am going to get the hubbies european deer mount, paint it glossy white/offwhite(he gasped at the idea at first, but when I showed him the results he was ok with it. He wont let me do them all from his childhood! boo!, maybe after I do one he will change his mind!)

I'll post pics of course of all the projects when they are finished and along the road for a tutorial or two!

The Hubs Office

Ok, I must give props to the hubby. When he first told me that he and his brother had found an office space I was a bit weary. I was not so sure they were "looking at all their options".

So  low and behold, they go out and do it anyway(of course!) But to be perfectly honest, the place is perfect for them! I was so excited to dress it up a bit, so I did the following:

So, I went out and purchased some rugs, desk accessories, made my own art(because HVAC art is not so readily available!) and I will be doing some accent painting as well!
I'll post some before and afters soon!
