So ready to RE-DO!

OK, so do any of you have that one room in your home that is the "catch all room?", or the clutter collector!! I have an "office" in my home, which is a third bedroom that seems to have taken on this trait. We need the computer and all the equipment because it does tie in to our wireless network. And if the wireless ever goes down, the computer in this room is the "go-to" computer to get it fixed.

So with that being said, I have decided to make it into another guest bedroom. I have previously(about 6 or so months ago painted the room, so this wont be necessary as the paint is very fresh!)

I am planning on outfitting the room to accommodate guest, as well as function as a semi-office for me and my husband until our upstairs space can be finished and used for this instead.

So the plan goes, I intend to buy/find a desk that will hide all the unsightly cords that come with a desktop computer, and a storage option for all the paper for printing and files that we have. I am also trying to get my husband to be more organized about the mail(we will see if this is successful).

Before shots, not so thrilling..

Here is what I am thinking: I'm going to go classic but with a contemporary edge. My house reflects this style. I do not expect all of the computer "crap" =) to remain in this room because hopefully this fall/winter my upstairs loft will be complete and those items will be moving upstairs.(fingers crossed)

Bedding Option:

Storage/Desk Option:

I plan to paint the drawers brown or even the a burnt orange color. I chose this small desk
because it will function as a nightstand as well, and it will house the ugly tower within the cabinet.

So, I already have the mattress/box spring..need to get the rails, headboard(might do upholstered) and then all the storage pieces. Anyone know of a good yard sale going on? =) I hate CraigsList because its so wishy washy and I would rather not travel three thousand miles to get a nightstand for $30! ha!

Hello Blog, Long time no See!

Yes, I know its been a while since the last time I blogged. Sorry. I have been busy with Fall festivals and decorating, and frankly relaxing a little bit and haven't gotten around to posting all the new things I have been up to.

I am working on some custom art pieces for sale, and my neighbor wants to do a consultation with me to go over design for their home. I'm not really big on doing residential design because I feel that its your home, and you can make it comfortable to your liking, because in the end, I will tell you how to make it beautiful and look amazing, but are you going to be able to live in it? or maintain it? Its a big departure from doing commercial spaces, but I enjoy it don't get me wrong..its just different. From the clientele to the project..its all different!

I am most likely going to do a digitally design board for her because to be honest, I am tired of doing design boards. I do them at work for our clients, and to me its a little bit of a waste of time. Everything is going digital, so why not design. I am still going to pull fabrics and paint colors and finish materials for the family to look at, because you cant beat the "real" deal right in front of you that you can touch and keep, and throw around the house to make sure you like it before taking the plunge.

Example:
This is what my upstairs Loft is going to look like when I get finished with it!! Woohoo!!

Well, seeing as though I have written a bit about whats coming up in my next few blogs, I hope you will stay tuned!

Let the Festivities Begin!

Let the Festivities Begin!

Well, I'm almost ready for the festival this weekend in Villa Rica, Gold Rush to be exact. I will have all kinds of Art work on display, including the childrens furniture pieces, and I will be officially doing the
FACE Painting!

Trust me, I am not doing the face painting for the money..because there is not a lot of money to be made when doing them for $1-$2. I do it for the kids, because the smile on
their faces is enough gratification for me.

If your coming, keep an eye out for me!

Forever My Little Girl

Forever my Little Girl! My Sweet Sassy!

In her custom bag, ready to go for a ride! Her favorite!

My family has suffered a tremendous loss this week.
My sweet, and ever so loving Sassy passed away. She was and has been my backbone, best friend, and truly "woman's" best friend for 14 years.

Sassy was a very lively, healthy and up-beat little Shih-Tzu/Tea-Cup Poodle. There will never be another like her. I have never come across another like her in my life-time, and I don't ever expect to again...she is truly One-of-a-kind, and will forever remain in my heart and the lives of everyone that encountered her.

When I think of all the things Sassy was for me, it breaks my heart to know she's gone, because she was such a big part of my Family, she will truly be missed, but never forgotten. I will love her until my end on this earth is through, and will meet her again so that sweet little face, and that little tongue and nose can show me affection once again.
I love you Sassy, and you will FOREVER be my little girl and remain in my heart.
Everyone misses you, and we all love you very much!

Best Buddies!

At Nanny's for Thanksgiving!

Her favorite, Mommy and Daddy's clean clothes basket!

A Big Undertaking..Update!!! YAY!

A Big Undertaking! But I think I can! UPDATE!!!

OK, so remember that "little"(I say that sarcasticallyv) project I have been working on?
Here are the before and after updates of the chairs! I think they turned out great! I am sooooo pleased with them, and after the week I have had this week, it has been one good thing to put a smile on my face.

I stripped all the fabric off, and painted the wood work all SW6213-Halcyon Green, this color coordniates with the blue-green in the fabric. I choose an IKAT fabric because the designs have been around for years, so its a classic, but I chose it in a colorway that is more up-to-date and modern.

I need to still take some photos of them in their place in front of the fireplace! I'll get around to that one day! =)

First Degree is officially in Business!

First Degree is Officially in Business!!

First off, I must say how proud I am of my Hubby. This is something he has always wanted, so with a little encouragement, and me beside him on his decision to do so....he has decided to do it, and I could not be happier.

Being a Business Owner/Operator/Boss/Brother/Husband is a huge undertaking, but he has so much potential and client database, I know he will do great and succeed even beyond his and my own expectations! I love you babe! Here's to First Degree's first day!!!

A Big Undertaking!! But I think I can!!

A Big Undertaking! But I think I can!

Ok, so I'm going to let you in on a "little"(I say that sarcastically) project I am working on.
Before you look at these two chairs and think, what the heck is Kendra going to do with those??-take another look at their possiblilities!

I am planning on re-upholstering and refinishing these chairs for my home, all by myself (and with the help of my wonderful hubby!)These chairs were recently handed down to us from my husbands Grandmother. I plan to make these much more modern than they appear now!

So far we have taken almost all of the fabric off one of the chairs (oh yeah, that was interesting) and I am planning on painting them! Wish me luck because this is more than just a weekend project!!

Have any ideas for them as far as fabrics and colors go, give me your feedback!

The High

The High Museum

The High Museum, great location in the City, and a great place to visit. Me an my Sis-in-Law had an "invite only" Cocktail Reception to attend and I was super excited!!

The exhibit was of Salvador Dali's. It will be going on now through the month of August, but me and the Sis get to see it before it officially opens to the public, and with special accommodations!!! I'm really loving the "invite only" part of it, makes me feel a little special I guess, seeing as though my boss gave me the tickets! Woohoo!!

It was amazing and the High put on a great party! Would love to go to another opening!!

!Hola! Mexico!!

!HOLA! Mexico!

Can you believe it? It has been 5 years since Keith and I got married! At some times it has felt like it has been a long time, but in other ways it has flown by!! When I look at what Keith and I have accomplished, not only as a couple, but as individuals, I realize that life doesn't get any better than this!

Keith and I have done a lot this past year, we have gone  Zip Lining on a Canopy Tour, camping in Helen with the Family(we try to do this every year), and then our Anniversary trip to MEXICO!!

I cannot even describe how beautiful Mexico is, it reminds me a lot of a lush rain forest in some parts of the world, and then the beaches remind me of Hawaii(oh I miss Hawaii)

Now, it's time to plan next years trip! Hum, where should we go? So many, destinations to choose from!

Today is the day....Hooray!

Today is the day..Hooray!!

Well, here lately I have been contemplating the idea of Blogging,
and today decided to do it!! I hope that I am able to keep up with it about once a week, and at the least, once a month!!
I figure that this will give you in-sight into a few or maybe a lot of things you may or may not know about me.

I love to paint which is one thing I based this blog on.."My Palettes".
Overall the title I chose for my blog was to show you that my interest range from Painting, Cooking, Shopping(Vintage/Antiques), and Re-furbishing(Mainly Furniture), being outdoors and spending time with Family/Friends. I have also started producing childrens artwork, and furniture pieces-thus comes the name.."My Palettes" because my taste and interest vary so much, and I wanted to include them all!!!
